Sudden Ambush

Ch. 27:Sudden Ambush

“Char, you’ve been working so hard for a few days. Why don't you take time to wind down? I know a lounge that offers live jazz music. It would be nice to relax there,” Livie told me as I was piling the documents on my desk into neat piles according to their usage.
This wasn't the first time Olivia had asked me out, but since I was always busy managing the pack, I had been declining her. Looking at the neat piles, I finally agreed to go with her.
She was right. I needed time to go out and wind down. Working too hard would make me a workaholic with no social interactions and wouldn't be good in the long run.
Especially since my previous encounters with Hayden and Milla, I needed to have fun and forget about them.
“Which lounge?” I asked her.
Her eyes lit up as she realized I finally agreed with her to go out. “The Midnight Bliss Lounge at the Spirit Pride Pack.”
The Spirit Pride Pack was famous for its clubs, bars, and lounges. And the Midnight Bliss Lounge was their number one lounge. I hadn't been there but had heard good things about it.
“Okay. Let me change my clothes first, and we’ll go,” I smiled at Olivia and walked to my bedroom. Livie naturally followed to help me choose my clothes.
She chose an elegant silk cocktail champagne dress with thin strings that needed to be tied in a cross-cross pattern at the back to hold the dress together. It reached above my knees, and she assured me the dress wasn't too much for the lounge.
She, herself, was dressed in a semi-formal dress. It looked like she was ready for the night and was sure I would agree to go with her. I chuckled at how well-prepared Livie was.
“Okay, let’s go!” she excitedly pulled me toward her car once I had put on my makeup and was ready to go. Today, Olivia didn't bring her driver, so she would be the one driving.
“It’s been so long since we hung and chilled out together. I missed out times three years ago,” she said as she drove.
Three years ago... Before I met Hayden, I always spent much time with my friends. Now it seemed like a great time to return to those times again.
Olivia kept chatting excitedly during our drive when suddenly, halfway through our destination, we were surrounded by male werewolves, blocking the road with their many numbers.
I became alert and vigilant. Were they rogues? I thought to myself.
The male werewolves knocked on our car, and some even tried breaking the windows. I knew they wouldn't let us go if we didn't get out and confront them.
“Livie, stay close to me, and don't let your guard down,” I cautioned her before opening my door.
“Don't worry, Char; I had already mind linked my pack members, and they would come to help with reinforcement,” she said calmly.
The Silent Prowlers Pack was close to our current location, so I didn't worry about being outnumbered. Furthermore, Livie and I were strong. We might not even need the help of the reinforcement.
We got off from the car calmly, confident of ourselves, and ready to fight them if it was they wanted.
As I stepped outside, suddenly, a familiar scent hit my nostril. That scent... Not rogues. Members of the Red Claw Pack. But I’d never seen them before.
Oh well, when I was their Luna, I spent my time mainly at Hayden’s home, catering to the needs of the two bitches - Sofia and Milla. So it wasn't strange that I didn't know many pack members.
Just as I realized that fact, I saw Milla step up from behind the werewolves.
I sneered. This bitch again. Did she not learn a lesson from our previous encounters? Did she think I was still the same weak she-wolf? Was she so dead set on being humiliated and hurt by me?
“Look, guys, that’s Hayden’s ex-mate, your ex-Luna!” Milla pointed at me.
“She’s beautiful,” one of the male werewolves leer at me with a lewd gaze.
“She is. She is so fucking beautiful. No wonder Alpha Hayden claimed her as his mate,” another joined in.
I was disgusted looking at their perverted gaze. Some of them even stroke their dicks through their pants.
Milla snorted. “What’s the use of being beautiful when in the end, she ends up as just a rejected she-wolf? She must be going out with that slutty dress to seduce old men.”
I rolled my eyes. Did she not have any other words to describe me? Slutty, bitchy, seducing old men... Those words were getting old, and I only felt that she was a stupid she-wolf with a limited vocabulary.
“Don't be fooled by her appearance! She was the one who pushed Sofia off the cliff and killed her baby!” Milla nearly yelled out of anger as she saw her members were lusting after me.
Her words were obviously intended to make them hate me. And as expected, all the werewolves glared at me with hatred in their eyes.
I saw Olivia’s body begin to tremble. Milla’s words made her so furious that she was so close to shifting. Her eyes kept changing color between her blue eyes and the golden eyes of her wolf.
I moved closer to her and whispered, “Calm down, Livie. If we lose control, they’ll win. That’s what Milla wants from us.”
Olivia began to calm down at my words, but her eyes were still burning with anger, and her hands were clenched tightly. “We just need to stall for time and wait for my members to come,” she whispered back through gritted teeth.
In contrast to Olivia’s anger, I was calm. I didn't fear them at all. I could take more than half of them down myself, and Olivia could take care of the rest.
I looked at them and mocked, “Are the Red Claw Pack members really this stupid?”
Milla’s expression contorted. She looked so ugly I almost laughed out loud. “How dare you say we are stupid?!” she roared.
I saw the rest of the werewolves, and their hatred toward me had heightened after I accused them of being stupid.
“Do you know me?” I sneered. “No, most of you had never seen me before, and yet you believe all the lies and bullshit this bitch was spouting.”
“You!” Milla pointed at me, and her face turned red from anger. “You dared call me a bitch while you are the bitch?”
I swept my gaze at all the werewolves. “Tell me then. I was the Luna of your pack, but had any of you treated me as one?”
They all fell silent yet still looked at me with a burning hatred.
“I had never mistreated any of you, yet not only this bitch and Sofia, but some of the other members often treated me like an Omega,” I continued.
“I was never treated as the Luna of the pack. Since the moment I was claimed by Hayden, your Alpha, this bitch of his sister and mistress had never treated me with respect. She and that mistress, Sofia, treated me as an Omega. I had to cater to all their needs, and they loved to insult and humiliate me. So, who’s the bitch? A Luna who willingly endured all the humiliation for being treated as an Omega because she loved the Alpha or the person who treated the Luna of the pack as an Omega?” I asked them lightly.
“We treated you as an Omega because you were never worthy of being our Luna! You are a rogue! A weak orphan! Why should we treat you with respect?” Milla, of course, would not back down.
I looked at her as if she really was a clown. A rogue? A weak orphan?
I laughed out loud. “Milla, I suggest you go to the hospital to get your brain checked. Did you forget that I am the heiress of the Moon Crest Pack? That I am now the Alpha of the Moon Crest Pack?”
“You think we believe that you are the heiress of the Moon Crest Pack? A shrew like you? I know that you are a fake heiress. You must have seduced Alpha Alrick, become his sugar baby, and asked him to tell the world that you are his heiress!” Milla kept mocking and insulting me.
“Do you know why we always treated you like an Omega? Because you are unrespectable. You don't deserve our respect at all,” she spat.
